In an effort to expand and enhance family engagement in education, PTAs and schools across the country will be hosting a variety of events from February 17 through 21 as part of PTA Take Your Family to School Week.
“Decades of research shows that when families and schools work together, student achievement increases, schools improve and communities grow stronger,” said Otha Thornton, National PTA President. “PTA Take Your Family to School Week is a reminder during the middle of the school year of the importance of family involvement in education. Whether attending a meeting or participating in an event, the purpose of the week is to provide families the opportunity to visit their child’s school and meet school staff and inspire them to stay involved in their child’s education.”
Resources in the PTA Take Your Family to School Week toolkit include complete planning guides for PTA and student leaders as well as event planning guides for supporting student success workshops, a literacy and math event, a bullying prevention event, a PTA Reflections celebration, a creative career fair, a multicultural event, and a safety event. Additional toolkit materials include sample invitations, donation requests, marketing materials, and more.
