Running a PTA during the pandemic has certainly been a challenge, from moving meetings online to figuring out what fundraisers and events can be done safely. Now, both National PTA and Illinois PTA have put together more resources to help you run your PTA virtually.

Illinois PTA has been running an online series of events, Building a Toolbox to PTA, during November and December. The series has state PTA leaders providing resources, tips, and maybe a few tricks during each of these sessions. The sessions are:

  • MemberHub Compliance
  • How Do You PTA? Virtually, Of Course!
  • Intro to National PTA e-Learning
  • Being a Voice for Your Child
  • Keep Them Coming and Keep Them Connected (12/9, 7pm)
  • Who is Next to Lead? (12/15, 7pm)

You can register for the upcoming sessions by going to the Illinois PTA events page, clicking on the session you would like to attend, and following the registration link in the drop down description. You can also watch episodes you’ve already missed from that same page—just click on the session and follow the link.

National PTA has been creating several resources to support PTAs as they move online since the spring. Now all those resources are collected in a single page at the National PTA website, called Lead a PTA Virtually. On the page, you’ll find resources and examples to help your PTA with:

  • Membership
  • Online Programs
  • Socially Distanced Family Engagement
  • Leadership Training

You’ll also find links to PTA leader online groups where you can share ideas, PTA videos you can share with your members, and tips on everything from scheduling social media posts to online fundraising.
