Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) has been supporting childhood literacy since 1966. This summer, they are supporting summer reading through their Summer Reading Field Trips.

RIF is inviting children across the country to explore their communities and the world around them through reading. The website has everything you need to help your elementary school child traveling to new and exciting places through reading. On the website, you will find:

  • The RIF Summer Reading Pledge
  • Downloadable materials including a summer reading log, coloring sheets, and other activities
  • Recommended reading field trips (find the books at your local library) with additional activities your child can do related to the books
  • Read along videos for some selected books
  • Two virtual book clubs (K-2 and 3-5) where your child can watch a read-aloud and then join in a discussion about a book
  • Information on how your child can start their own summer book club
  • Monthly calendars with reading ideas for every day

Summer reading can help kids maintain what they learned last year in school through the summer months. Check out the Summer Reading Field Trips website to discover ways you can help your child read throughout the summer.
