March is National Nutrition Month, an annual nutrition education campaign led by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to encourage everyone to develop healthy eating and physical activity habits. Here are some ways your PTA can celebrate.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has a National Nutrition Month toolkit. The toolkit has PDF handouts on a variety of topics in English and Spanish that you can share with your families. You’ll also find planning materials, public service announcements (both video and scripts), games and activities for kids, infographics, and a social media toolkit.
Action for Healthy Kids also has a collection of suggested activities that can be used in the classroom, at home, or as part of a health event. Activities include taste tests, printable fruit and vegetable or physical activity trackers, a Rethink Your Drink demonstration, and healthy messages to share with families.
Finally, don’t forget about National PTA’s Healthy Lifestyles programs. Programs include healthy hydration, a Family Tasting Night, healthy school meals, and more. National PTA also has health resources for families that you can share as well.
